Kylie Kelley joined the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital pharmacy team in March 2026, bringing with her a passion for teaching and a background in human and veterinary pharmacology.
Originally from Indiana, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University in Indianapolis and now helps educate veterinary students while supporting patient care across the hospital. Outside of work, Kylie enjoys reading, crocheting, traveling with her husband and adventuring with her four dogs: Axle, Lila, Gus and Apollo.
What is your typical day like at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital?
I work in the pharmacy at VTH. It consists of going to ECC rounds in the morning, verifying medication orders, filling medications, final verification of medications, and teaching students. No one day is ever the same, which makes working at the VTH interesting and worthwhile.
What made you want to work in veterinary medicine and at the VTH?
I am passionate about teaching the next generation. I started working in veterinary medicine because I wanted pharmacy students to have a basic knowledge of veterinary pharmacology when verifying orders. Throughout that experience I discovered I also enjoy teaching veterinary students pharmacology. I like working in the hospital because I get to be involved in many cases and get to help so many different species. Everyone here is lovely and nice, which makes working here even more enjoyable.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Teaching and answering math and drug questions. Being a part of a team and seeing good outcomes makes going to work rewarding.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to crochet, hike, kayak, and read. I love traveling with my husband and walking our dogs together.
What advice would you give to pet owners?
Always check to make sure before you give your animal food that it is safe. Never give human over-the-counter medications without talking with the vet. If they have questions, they can always give the pharmacy at the VTH a call if they are unsure.
