Biography
Dr. Rubia Tomacheuski is a clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology, veterinarian, and scientist with a deep commitment to advancing animal pain assessment and management. Originally from Brazil, she earned her DVM in 2015 and enriched her training with a study term at Murdoch University in Australia. She completed a master’s degree in sustainable production and animal health, and a PhD in anesthesiology, which included international research at the Université de Montréal. Dr. Tomacheuski has worked as a veterinary anesthesiologist in private practice and has taught veterinary anesthesiology, and pain assessment and management in Brazil. Her postdoctoral training at North Carolina State University focused on both acute pain in livestock and chronic pain in companion animals. With experience spanning clinical practice, academia, and international research, her work centers on improving animal welfare—particularly in farm animals.
