Sarah Guess

Dr. Guess is board-certified in small animal internal medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is on faculty in the small animal internal medicine department at WSU. Dedicated to the importance of teaching in the veterinary profession, she is an active fellow in the college’s Teaching Academy and the Teaching Academy of the Consortium of West Region Colleges of Veterinary Medicine. She is the recipient of the 2021 Zoetis Distinguished Teacher Award, the 2020 and 2021 Wescott Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching, and is a Newbrey Teaching Scholar. Her research focus is in veterinary education, specifically in the areas of resilience, measurement, and statistical analysis and design, and in various topics in internal medicine. Internal medicine topics include renal disease, biliary disease, and megaesophagus. Dr. Guess serves on the patient safety committee and the ACVIM examination committee. She is proud to be a life-long WSU coug and was raised in the Pacific Northwest in a coug family, and completed her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at WSU.
