24-Hour Emergency

The WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides 24-hour emergency and critical care for animals facing sudden illness, injury, or life-threatening conditions. Our emergency service is staffed around the clock — including nights, weekends, and holidays — to evaluate and stabilize patients when every minute matters. For many pets, care doesn’t end once the immediate crisis passes, and our hospital offers advanced diagnostics, continuous monitoring, and specialty follow-up care all under one roof.

Located in Pullman, Washington, the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital serves pets from Pullman, Moscow, Lewiston, Clarkston, and surrounding communities, providing 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary care when it matters most.

Emergency care that extends beyond stabilization

While immediate stabilization is essential, many emergency cases require ongoing treatment, additional diagnostics, or specialty intervention in the hours or days that follow. As a full-service veterinary teaching hospital, WSU is uniquely positioned to manage complex and evolving cases without delays, transfers, or outside referrals.

Our emergency and critical care teams work closely with board-certified specialists to reassess patients as conditions change, adjust treatment plans, and guide recovery — providing a level of continuity that is not always available at emergency-only clinics.

Board-certified specialists working together

The WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital is staffed with board-certified veterinary specialists across a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Emergency and Critical Care
  • Internal Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Neurology
  • Cardiology
  • Oncology
  • Diagnostic Imaging

This collaborative approach allows our teams to quickly access advanced expertise, perform specialized procedures, and deliver coordinated care for patients with complex or life-threatening conditions.

Seamless continuity of care under one roof

When emergency patients require further treatment, they can transition directly into specialty services within the same hospital. These services may include:

  • Advanced imaging (radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI)
  • Surgical intervention
  • Intensive care and continuous monitoring
  • Chemotherapy, radiation therapy (LINAC), or other long-term treatments
  • Rehabilitation and recovery planning

Keeping care coordinated within one facility helps reduce stress for pets and owners while ensuring clear communication and consistent medical oversight from emergency through recovery.

More than emergency care

From immediate, life-saving treatment to long-term recovery planning, the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers comprehensive emergency and specialty veterinary care in one location. Our teams are committed to providing expert, coordinated care when it matters most — because emergencies don’t always end in a single visit.
